In 2018, our team’s goal was to improve even more, so we accomplished that with ByteForce. ByteForce was the team’s best performing robot to date, as we were alliance captains at both of our regional events, and did well at the Chesapeake District Championships, falling just short of World Championships. It was a great season for our team, and we got further than ever before, all thanks to hard work and dedication. ByteForce was a very reliable and consistent robot at competition, and could very easily succeed at each task. It features many components that contributed to its success:

  • Elevator lift capable of placing cubes over seven feet
  • Powerful pneumatic clamp
  • Easy to maneuver six wheel tank drive
  • Climber using a pneumatic cylinder along with a supporting winch

After the success of ByteForce in 2018, our team’s goal was to industrialize our robot design. 2019’s robot, Odyssey, is the most mechanically complex robot in our teams history. 2019 is the first year our team implemented CAD into our design process. This allowed us to make the exact parts we need with a much quicker turnaround.

Some of Odyssey’s Features:

  • Mecanum drive for extra maneuverability
  • Cascading lift system capable of lifting to every level in less than 2 seconds
  • Dual Intake able to get cargo and hatch panels off the ground and from the loading station
  • Pneumatic Hab Climber capable of climbing level 3 and level 2 hab zones in less than 15 seconds
  • Camera for visibility during the Sandstorm period of the Match
